-Transfer money from your accounts to any Greek account through the payment start-up service from a banking application

waiz is available for e-banking holders at the banks available for connection. To use waiz you need a smartphone, internet connection (with wifi or 3G / 4G) and an email address. Waiz is designed for Retail Banking customers of banks and not for Business Accounts.

waiz is not a bank, but it have been created with the support of the National Bank of Greece. We currently operate using the EIB Bank License, part of which is the right to provide Account Information Services and Payment Initiation Services. With Open Banking we can provide access to account information but also send transfer orders from multiple banking Institutions. Waiz is a standalone application managed by a separate unit.

waiz is available for free through the Google Play store for Android users and the App Store for iOS.

Yes. waiz is an authorized Account Information Services Provider and as a unit of the National Bank of Greece (NBG) is subject to the regulations of the Greek financial authorities.

waiz & banks

Yes. As of January 13, 2018, the European Union PSD2 (Payment Services Directive 2) entered into force, which defines the Regulatory Framework for the Account Information Service and the Payment Start-up Service. Bank customers have the right to authorize third parties (applications, companies, fintechs) to access their data in order to be able to see the information they derive from banking channels in other media. They can also initiate payments from their accounts through certified Payment Initiative Service Providers. Banks are required to provide this information through special interfaces created for this purpose.

We have started the service covering the largest Greek banks and electronic banks. However, we plan to add other banks to the application. In any case, you can let us know which bank you would be interested in integrating into the application so we can look into it.

waiz operates completely separately from the interconnected banks. In the context of the safe extraction and transfer of data from the banks to waiz, the banks have created special interfaces (APIs) that make it possible to display your data in waiz. In this context, there is communication for technological interconnection issues.

The PSD2 (Payment Service Directive), which stands for Payment Services Directive, is a European Union legislation designed to free the banking market from the monopoly of banks on account and payment information. This legislation allows accredited organizations such as waiz to access account and payment information with the explicit consent of the user.

Function

Through waiz you can see the banking products that comply with the PSD2 standard and relate to accounts from which payments are made, ie: Current / Current Accounts, Savings Accounts, Credit Cards and Prepaid cards. In case you have a product from them but it is not displayed in waiz, please let us know. However, some products may not be displayed if your bank does not offer this feature. As data mining is done through interfaces (APIs), we only have access to what your bank allows.

waiz has been created to support “payment accounts”, ie accounts and cards with which you make payments or make transactions. Therefore, your loan does not belong to this product category and is not currently supported. But you can let us know what you would like and (what would be useful for you to see in the application in the future.

waiz has been created to support “payment accounts”, ie accounts and cards with which you make payments or make transactions. Therefore, your investments (stocks, mutual funds, closed time deposits, etc.) do not belong to this product category and are not currently supported.

If you change the login details (username & password) you use for your login to your bank e-banking, you will need to renew your bank connection to waiz. Your passwords can not be changed through waiz, and if you do not renew the bank’s connection with waiz, your data (balance & transactions) will stop being updated due to the inactive interface.
