To use waiz you need to:
- Be an ebanking user in one of the Banks available for connection in waiz
- Use a smatphone with internet access (either wifi or 3G/4G)
- Have an email address

waiz is a service built for Retail (individual) accounts in the connected banks and not Business/Commercial Banking/accounts.

Is waiz a bank?

waiz is not a bank, although we are a registered trademark of National Bank of Greece S.A (NBG). We currently operate under NBG's Account Information Services (AIS) license. In the Open Banking era, this means that we can access, on behalf of our users, payment account information and data held in multiple financial institutions. waiz is an independent application that is run by a dedicated unit.

Is waiz regulated?

Yes. waiz is a licensed Third Party Provider and, as a unit of National Bank of Greece S.A. (NBG), is regulated by the Greek Financial Authorities.

Banks

Does my bank allow this?

Yes. As of the 13th of January 2018 PSD2 (Payment Services Directive 2) has taken effect. With the implementation of PSD2, all banks in the European Union are making their customer data accessible to regulated and licensed third parties such as waiz. Bank customers by giving their consent, can have access to their data through other channels (e.g. fintechs, mobile apps). Banks are required to build dedicated interfaces (APIs) to provide the customer data to those Third Party Providers.

Does this break my bank's term and conditions?

As of the 13th of January 2018, all banks in the European Union are making their customer data accessible to regulated and licensed third parties such as waiz and as a result have altered or will alter their terms and conditions to reflect this change.

What if my bank isn't listed?

We have launched the service covering the largest Greek banks. However, we are planning to connect to more banks and fintechs in the future and we are looking forward to your feedback if you have any specific requests.

Does waiz work together with banks?

waiz operates independently of banks, and do not share user dara with any of the connected banks, including NBG. Banks have built dedicated APIs to enable the secure collection and transfer of data from banks to waiz. In that regard, for development purposes, our technology team is in contact and cooperation as needed with the respective banks' tech teams.

What is PSD2?

The Payment Service Directive, called PSD2, is a European Union Legislation which is designed to liberalize the banking market and break banks' monopoly on account and payment information. It allows regulated and registered players such as waiz to access account and payment information, following explicit user consent to do so.

Functions

Why do not some of the products I have in the bank appear?

We have included products that are covered by the relevant legislation (PSD2): this means banking products (accounts, cards) that are used or can be used for payments. In case you have such an account or product and it does not appear on waiz following the connection of your bank, please let us know. Please note that in case one of your products does not appear, it could mean that your bank is not including it in its APIs, which means we don't have access to it.

Can I see my mortgage at waiz?

waiz is built to support "payment accounts", meaning accounts that can be used for payments or transfers. Hence, your mortgage or loan is not included in this definition. In case you would like to see your loan in waiz in the future, please drop us a line.

Can I see my investments in waiz?

waiz is built to support "payment accounts", meaning accounts that can be used for payments or transfers. Hence, your stocks, funds or investments are not included in this definition and are currently not supported. In case you would like to see your investments in waiz in the future, please drop us a line.

What happens if I change the password of my bank?

If you change/ update your ebanking username and password, you will be prompted to update your connection to your bank by waiz. When you re-connect, you will need to use your new codes. To change or update your e-banking credentials you will need to do so through your bank's interface. Don't forget to visit waiz afterwards to refresh your connection with your new credentials to keep your data up-to-date.
